Critter of the Week

Meet our mommy bunny! Trix was a stray found in the St. John's area. One day Trix and her friend were thrown outside like trash to fend for themselves. Trix was found and taken to the SPCA, while her 'friend' was taken in by a caring person who decided to make him a permanent member of her family.

The story should have ended there, but 3 weeks after Trix arrived with the rescue she gave birth to 7 baby buns. One little one didn't survive but the other 6 are all doing great and are ready to move to their new homes.

Trix is a friendly girl who LOVES food. Feeding 6 hungry and growing young was wearing her out. She was a little nasty at first, being a little over protective of her family, but now she is calming down and being a good good!

We think Trix would make a great pet. She is soon to be spayed and will be all ready to move on to a forever home. Trix is not a very big girl, not much bigger than a dwarf bunny actually.

Can you offer this mommy bunny a loving home? She did a great job raising her family and now deserves to be pampered and spoiled! Don't you agree?

Our New Outdoor Bun Runs!

Our goal summer of 2011 was to have better outside accommodations for our bunnies. In order to be able to purchase these kennels we needed a fundraiser that could bring in about $3000.00. So, we decided to sell "World's Finest Chocolate Bars" and 156 boxes later the dream of such wonderful outside play areas were a reality. Each run is 4' wide by 12' long with 8' covered by a tarp and 4' open to the sun. Each run also contains a dog house for extra shelter or just a place for the buns to play! Due to the success of the fundraiser we were also able to buy an extra run for inside so the bunnies could also have an indoor large play area. The inside run is 4' wide by 10' long.

A special thank you to everyone who helped make this possible by selling or buying chocolate bars! We couldn't have done it without you!

Easter & Rabbits

Make Mine Chocolate

The Small Ones

Who will take care of the small ones?
Well cats and dogs are fun
But Guineas, Birds and Rabbits too
Deserve to love someone.

Who will take care of the small ones?
When you give yours away?
You're moving or having a baby
And with you they cannot stay.

Who will take care of the small ones?
They need someone like you
To show them love and affection
And make them not feel blue.

I will take care of the small ones
With me they'll always stay
I'll never make excuses
Or ever give them away.

I will take care of the small ones
They're near and dear to me
Some may turn up their noses
But they are my family.

Thank You

We would like to thank the veterinarians and staff at the Community Vet Hospital for their dedication to our critters. All of our bunnies are spayed or neutered at this clinic and they offer us a discount on the surgery. This means our funds stretch a little further and more animals can be saved!

A big thank to Martin Mills Inc for donating 3 - 5kg bags of Rabbit pellets every month. This is made possible thanks to Larry Curtis with the Matchless Decor Center on Marine Drive in Clarenville. This donated food is a big help when you have so many little mouths to feed!

A BIG Thank You to Pinnacle Office Solutions for printing our 2010 calendars and for printing our newsletters!
